About this quiz
Every country's shape has a story. A mountain range, a river, a treaty, a war or a colonial deal drew the lines on the map. This quiz shows you an outline and asks you to name the country, then tells you the history behind the shape.
The first questions are shapes most people recognize on sight. The later ones reward anyone who has looked at a map and wondered why a country has a strange arm, a narrow strip or a missing piece.
