About this quiz
The quiz covers twenty of Africa's 54 countries, from the giants of the north and the Congo to small states like Rwanda and The Gambia. Each explanation gives the capital and one story about the country, from a medieval king's gold to a flag with a rifle on it.
Most people find the big countries and the coasts easy. The hard part is West Africa and the south, where neighbors of similar size sit side by side and colonial borders run in straight lines.
