About this quiz
The Cultural Revolution ran from 1966 to 1976 and was one of the most destructive political movements of the twentieth century. Students turned on their teachers, temples and historic sites were wrecked, and millions of people were persecuted for their families or their ideas.
The quiz covers its leaders, its victims and some of its strangest episodes, from the Red Guards to the Gang of Four. Most questions can be reasoned out even if you know little about modern China.
