About this quiz
The Black Death reached Europe in 1347 and killed between a third and a half of the continent's people within about five years. It emptied villages, and the workers who survived found that their labor was suddenly scarce.
The questions follow the plague from its arrival in Sicily to the books, laws and customs it left behind, and to what scientists have learned from its victims' graves.
