About this quiz
The Korean War killed roughly 3 million people in three years, most of them civilians, though estimates run from about 1.5 million to 4.5 million. It drew in the United States, China, the Soviet Union and more than a dozen other countries. It ended near the 38th parallel, where it had started.
The quiz covers the war's big moments and the people behind them, from the generals and presidents in Washington to the soldiers at the front. It also asks how the war lives on in American memory. The easy questions come first, and the last two, on the diplomacy before and during the war, are the hardest.
