About this quiz
Ancient Egypt lasted about 3,000 years, from the first kings on the Nile to Cleopatra's death in 30 BC. The quiz covers its most famous names and monuments: the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, the richest royal tomb ever found in Egypt, the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, Cleopatra, and the stone that let scholars read hieroglyphs again.
It is meant as an easy start. Most people know the pyramids and the mummies, but a good deal of what we think we know comes from Hollywood and old travelers' tales, and several questions check the popular version against the evidence.
