About this quiz
Rome began as a small city on the Tiber and ended up ruling the whole Mediterranean. The quiz follows that story through its most famous moments: the wars with Carthage, Caesar's march on Rome and his murder, the first emperors, the town Vesuvius buried, and the end of the empire in the West.
It is written for curious readers, not specialists. If you have read a little about Rome, you should get at least half right.
