About this quiz
The Thirty Years' War killed millions and reshaped the map of Europe. It began in 1618 when Protestant nobles in Bohemia rebelled against their Habsburg king and ended with the Peace of Westphalia thirty years later. In between, one foreign power after another joined the fighting, and central Europe suffered some of the worst destruction it had ever seen.
The quiz covers the war's key figures, its worst moments and the peace that ended it. Several questions test stories that sound too strange to be true but are well documented.
